Flies tied using patterns found in various 18th and 19th century fly fishing treatises such as: Art of Angling (Richard Bowlker, 1766), the compleat Angler (Izaak Walton, 1653), the Fly Fisher's guide (Bainbridge, 1816) and others.
Flies can be tied onto modern hooks with eyes, converted eyless hooks on horsehair leader, or forged hooks on horsehair leader.
Horsehair leaders can be single, double or triple hair twists of approximately six inches and with a loop on one end.
